XPhe Energy K is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) designed for children with phenylketonuria (PKU) or hyperphenylalaninaemia (HPA) aged 1 to 6 years. The formula contains highly purified L-amino acids free from phenylalanine and additional energy in the form of carbohydrates and fats, including ω-6 and ω-3 fatty acids.
XPhe Energy K combines amino acid therapy and energy support in a single product. Thanks to its pleasant milkshake flavour and additional calorie content, the product is particularly useful for children with high physical activity levels, reduced appetite, catabolic states, or a risk of weight loss.

Energy support in PKU
XPhe Energy K provides additional energy through a combination of readily digestible carbohydrates and a blend of plant-based oils. This helps prevent amino acids from being used as an energy substrate after absorption and supports an anabolic metabolic state.

The neutral-flavour version of XPhe Energy K contains no flavourings or sweeteners and can be used in young children from 1 year of age. Thanks to its mild taste, milky texture and familiar profile, the product eases the transition from infant formula to the more concentrated amino acid mixtures in the XPhe range.
The formula contains approximately three times more protein than a standard phenylalanine-free amino acid mixture, helping to meet the child's increased needs during growth and development.
Preparation method
Clinical role in PKU management
XPhe Energy K replaces the portion of dietary protein that cannot be obtained from natural sources due to impaired phenylalanine metabolism. The formula can be used either on its own or in combination with other products in the XPhe range, according to the patient's individual dietary plan.
