XPhe Smart A

XPhe Smart A is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) designed for teenagers and adults with phenylketonuria (PKU) or hyperphenylalaninaemia (HPA). The formula contains highly purified L-amino acids free from phenylalanine and combines a high protein equivalent concentration with a small intake volume.

Clinical role in PKU management

XPhe Smart A replaces the portion of dietary protein that cannot be obtained from natural food sources due to impaired phenylalanine metabolism. The daily amount of the amino acid mixture is determined individually based on age, body weight, phenylalanine tolerance, and the results of regular metabolic monitoring.

The daily dose should be divided into 3–5 separate servings throughout the day. XPhe Smart A can be combined with other products in the XPhe range according to the patient's individual dietary plan.

Practical use

XPhe Smart A should be prepared immediately before consumption. After taking the concentrated XS, S or M forms, it is recommended to additionally drink a glass of water or another beverage.
